Hi everyone, it's our first time raising chicks and this is my first post on here so please forgive any mistakes!
We have 7 two-week-old Brahmas and one of them has an injured leg. It can bend and flex the leg but it doesn't like to stand or walk on it so mostly hops around and stands with the leg out sideways. It is managing to get to food and water but obviously using a lot more energy than the other chicks so it's not growing as fast, we are also worried about it getting trampled on although they do have plenty of space.

Does anyone know what kind of injury it is? Do you know what has caused it or whether it could have been born with this problem?
And is there anything we can do to help it?

We were hoping it might have started to get better by now but I suppose we may have to brace ourselves for the worst, if there is any way to avoid that though I'd be really grateful!
Thank you so much for reading my essay and hopefully the photos aren't too blurry!

Welcome to BYC, sorry no one replied to your thread. :hugs How's your chick?
I'm not positive, but that looks like it might be twisted tibia or a slipped tendon.

Hi, thank you for your response! They are five weeks old now and the chick (who we've named Peggy 😂🙈) is much the same where it's leg is concerned, I'm beginning to think it will stay this way - it is managing to get food and water okay and is easily the loudest chick so I'm keeping my fingers crossed! I can take a couple more photos later if that would help.
