Chick with no balance?? Mareks or botulism...

Thank you so much. Would I be able to vaccinate future birds myself or would I need to go to a vet?

I order vaccinated chicks from hatcheries or do it myself. It's very easy if you can do it. Then quarantine for a few weeks to give the vaccine time to work. I've had super good success with vaccinating my own. It also means there is life after Marek's. But chickens should not leave your property. But fertile eggs can.

Most people get chicks vaccinated at the hatchery they come from, or order the vaccine from an online store and five them to day old chicks. There are a lot of differing opinions on vaccinating period. Some choose to breed their own chickens in the flock who do not get symptoms. Both @seminolewind and @rebrascora are good to share their experiences with Mareks in their flocks. It is important to get a confirmed diagnosis of Mareks with a necropsy, just in case it is not that. Here is one of several places who sell Mareks vaccine:

Thank you, this is very helpful. Although the site you gave doesn’t ship in canada.

Ok good i will try it. Are there any hatcheries that you know of that ships in Canada?

Also, I have another chick, how long would it take to know if she has caught the disease? (Start to see symptoms) if anyone can reply it would be a great help!

Mareks can show up at any time in life, but between 3 and 6 months can be a common age. Any vaccinated chicks should be kept away from carriers or the coop area for 3 weeks after vaccination to achieve immunity. Here is a long list of hatcheries in Canada:

Thank you so much, if she is sick would I know it immediately?

They can have problems walking or have drooping wings, and may lose weight if tumors are developing in organs. Just look back at the 2 links that I gave on on Mareks—they have symptoms listed.

UPDATE— Hi, thanks to anyone to tried to help. 4 days after my chick, lavander orpington, named Oreo or Lav, lost her balance her neck became paralyzed and she was barely able to open her eyes. We have decided to cull her because she can’t eat anymore. :hitSo there, in case anyone was wondering...
