to me to have "thin feathers" as in not a lot of coverage. Also, just noticed what looks like a water sack up on his shoulder. I'll try to get a pic of that too. Acting normally (fiesty!) Eating medicated chick starter normally. Drinking water w/acv normally.

Could be ingrown feathers, or even bug bites, it's hard to tell from a picture.

Roosters often feather out more slowly in some breeds.

Water sack on the shoulder makes me think you are seeing a full crop. Younger birds are often pigs, and stuff it full. It rides higher in younger birds than in mature birds.

Ok. I'll won't worry too much about them then. The water sack on the shoulder is up on his back by the base of his wing, the skin is super thin and it looks like there is fluid in it. It moves around when he moves so I had trouble getting a pic yesterday. Maybe it just looks strange to me because he's so naked. I'll check it out again this morning. Thanks for the reply!

Definitely not ticks. They are like large pimples. I know the picture is a bit weird...

I would look around for ants which can bite and cause blisters. They can be dangerous to young chicks. You may want to treat your coop with some permethrin 10% spray, available in a concentrated form that makes gallons in most feed stores.

They both have a feather coming out of them so I am wondering if the spot where the feather enters can get infected? Like an ingrown hair.
