Hi all! I'm new to chicken raising and I think I have a problem with one of my chicks.
I've recently acquired 10 Buff Orpington chicks (~2 weeks old) from the feed store, and something appears to be wrong with one chick. His legs seem weak. He eats and drinks well and appears energetic, but he spends most of his time sort of slumped on his belly, and his legs appear to stick out to the sides more than those of the other chicks. He will hop up, walk a few steps, and then sort of sliiiiide back down to a sitting position. The other chicks are not very kind to him, and he's gotten a small bruise under one of his eyes.
I'm undecided as to whether I should cull this one. I don't want to do it unless it is necessary, but I also don't want him to suffer.

Search Spraddle legs. I have one like that too, and I found very good advice.

I'd try and treat him first. Get a bandaid. I've got a chick that is 11 days old and is similar.

We moved his legs a little closer together than in this pic.

I'm hoping that by Saturday I can take it off, he is almost the runt of the little flock. He'll be two weeks on Friday.
