I
am having trouble uploading the good and awfully graphic picture of the little chick...?
Help!

It is not thriving as the other is up and running around cheeping this little one looks great till you turn it over...Sleeping alot!
Pretty sure Mother Nature is taking it's course.

Looks like maybe it didn't absorb all it's yolk? I would give it some polyvisol(without iron) drops(2-3 drops)--you can buy these at walmart or any drugstore in the medicine section every 4 hours and also dip it's beak in water to help it get a drink. I have had chicks recover from this, but not always. Good luck and God bless!!!

How old is this chick? Has that been there since hatch, or has it just happened? I am pretty sure what we are seeing is where the yolk didn't absorb all the way. Depending on how much is left on the tummy it may just dry up and fall off. That is not what alway's happens but it could. If the chick was just hatched or a day old, I would say use neosporin on the tummy, but at this point I don't know that there is anything you can do other than make sure the chick is eating and drinking. I would also start the polyvisol drops....2 or 3 drops a day for a week and then taper off. Make sure the other chicks are not picking on it. If that happens you may want to seperate them. Goodluck.....we all not that mother nature is not alway's "nice", but she knows best
