Chick with umbillical cord?

My hen just hatched out a chick yesterday. Today I went out to check it over and it has an umbilical cord. (?) I looks like a newborn baby's cord, dried and attached. Is this normal? I don't remember seeing it on the other chicks.

Yes, it's normal. Just the remnant of the yolk sac that has been absorbed. Don't pull on it!

If its dried you can trim it to keep it from getting stepped on and pulled.

I went to check on the chick this morning and it was dead. It was in a pool of yolk.

It was the cutest chick we've ever hatched out.

I guess I should've trimmed the cord.

Awww....I just got a an order of chicks today and one of them has this. I need to trim it when I get home asap!! sorry to hear about your loss
