We went to Tractor Supply today to go pick up some chicks. We were picking them out when someone from the back said that they had a chick with a deformity and if we could help it. We go to the back and they bring out this little chick not being able to hold its head up. I do a quick Google search and find out that it has wry neck. The employee said that it was eating and drinking(not sure if this is true). We brought the chick home Is there any way we can help it? I heard that you need to give it vitamin A, but is there other things in addition to this?

It needs vitamin E and B1 thiamine. You can get those both in many chick vitamins, such as Poultry NutriDrench or Poultry Cell vitamin tonic. Get one of those or use another vitamin with those in it. Try to get it dring some water right away by dipping it’s beak into water or dropping some drops into it’s beak a drop at a time. Here is a good link about feeding a chicken with wry neck, although it will be a little different with such a little one:

You are supposed to give it vitamin E and selenium. I am not sure on the dosage, but hopefully some of the people on here will be able to help you or you can do a search and read other old threads.

Thank you, the chick is doing much better now and can hold her head up! I have been feeding it, chick food mixed with water it seems to eat this well. It also seemed so sad not being able to hold its head up so I made it a neck brace. I made it from a sock and the chick seems to like it. It is surprising how much progress it has made in so little time. I never expected the chick to be able to hold its head up and be able to walk forward this early! By the way if anyone has name suggestions she still does not have a name.
