My daughter is participating in the 4-H Chick Chain and we received 10 Columbian Wyandotte’s. They have been happy and healthy up until a week and a half ago and one of them (they are 2 months old) randomly just got weak and wouldn’t walk, next day it just died. We have another that started with the same thing yesterday and she would just spread her legs out to the side and wouldn’t get up. She would eat and drink perfectly when it was out in front of her. Lifted her head just fine and everything. It was just like the rest of her body didn’t want to do anything. Occasionally she would move her legs as if to stretch them out. Just wouldn’t get up and move. This morning she passed. I’m afraid something may be wrong with our chicks and I don’t know what to do. I’ve never had sick chickens before. I am afraid they may have Marek’s but they came from a hatchery and the 4-H lady swears they were vaccinated. They have a well ventilated coop that is 10x10, so plenty of space. Our coop is cleaned out every week on Sunday, they have fresh water daily, and they eat a Non-GMO feed that has probiotics, prebiotics, natural antioxidants, and diatomaceous earth in it (all premixed into the feed by the company) so I don’t feel they were deprived of anything. I’m lost. I have hatched many chicks myself and NEVER have they gotten sick. And my poor daughter is just distraught. Please help!
