Chick wont open eyes

Do you have some Nutri-Drench or Poultry Cell? With either one, use an eye dropper and put a drop to the side of her beak. Do another if she swallows that one.

I had one just the other day sounded about the same. I gave it two drops of Poultry Cell, then left it for an hour as I had to run. When I came back, I couldn't figure out which one she was as they were all running around the same. That did it! Mine were all silkies and incubator chicks though.

Have you considered treating for coccidiosis?

Coccidiosis in Chickens is a common parasitic disease caused by protozoa of the genus Eimeria, which infect and damage the intestinal lining, leading to poor nutrient absorption, dehydration, and increased susceptibility to other infections. It primarily affects young chicks (3–6 weeks old), though all ages can be impacted.

Causes and Transmission

  • Chickens become infected by ingesting sporulated oocysts shed in the feces of infected birds.
  • Oocysts require warm, moist conditions (70–90°F) for 1–2 days to sporulate and become infectious.
  • The disease spreads through contaminated feed, water, soil, or bedding, especially in overcrowded or poorly managed coops.

Symptoms

Common signs include:

  • Bloody or watery diarrhea
  • Ruffled feathers and lethargy
  • Reduced appetite and weight loss
  • Pale combs and wattles
  • Dehydration and huddling behavior
  • In severe cases: high mortality, especially in young chicks.

Diagnosis

  • Fecal flotation test to detect oocysts.
  • Lesion scoring (e.g., Johnson & Reid method) based on intestinal damage.
  • qPCR testing to identify specific Eimeria species.

Photos of your brooder, the chicks would be good too.

Clicking noise - are the chicks being handled a lot?
Are they on bedding? Are you providing grit?

What do the crops feel like?
