So my friend brought us a tiny little chick to foster for her since we are already brooding some little ones and the little foster chicky won't stop cheeping!!!! she eats and drinks normally but every time i leave the room "CHEEP! CHEEP! CHEEP!" as loud as she can, I have no idea what to do! help!

Ahhh, that is nice of you to foster her! Well, some times you just get a cheeper. As long as she is eating and drinking and acting ok otherwise, I would not worry. She'll quiet down after awhile. Depending on your set up, you could try to turn off the lights where the chicks are. That sometimes settles them down quicker. So far this season I have had 1 chicken cheeper chick and 1 quail cheeper chick. They both settled down at night and got to cheeping during the day. After about a day for the chick and 2 for the quail they settled in and stopped cheeping. I cheked them on a regular basis to make sure they were not distressed but they were ok.

she stops for a few minutes and then just starts back up again! shes so loud! im afraid she'll wear herself out shes so small with such a big voice!

She's probably lonely. Maybe you could get her a little chick friend. If not, maybe a mirror and something 'chick' size to cuddle with...

The other reason a chick chirps like that is its cold. Or, she just really wants to be with you...

I have had chicks do this and if everybody else is comfy with the temps in the brooder, I will dipthe chirping chicks beak again just to make sure it is getting plenty to drink, and after doing that a couple times if it is still cheeping then I moisten some chick food and they will usually fill up on that and get sleepy.

I've had cheepers also and the best thing that I've found to work, is a foster parent for the chicks. By this I mean a small fuzzy teddy bear or stuffed animal. But it should be bigger than the chicks. Mine was a brown and tan stuffed puppy, and they loved it. They were soooo quiet that I would go check on them just to make sure they were alright. I usually found them snuggled up to their foster mom. Sometimes they were laying on top of it.

Here's a pic for you to see. Hope this works as well for you as it did for me. Good luck.

^ That is the cutest thing I have ever seen! What a great idea too.
