chick wont stop peeping constantly

I never thought to check to see if it can see my hand coming at it. I will check. I did dip its beak in again three times in a row in a short period of time until i saw its neck muscles working to swallow and it seemed to calm a bit after that. I also put the other chick who spent the day in the incubator in the brooder too and they huddled together but still peeped.

I doubt that it's blind , I have one hen that has only had one good eye since pipping and thought of her is all. I have put sugar in the water before with some chicks who didn't want to drink but its vital to change it every few hours or it becomes toxic. I only had to do it for about 3 hours before the chicks were happy to drink again.

I think it's calling for it's mom. If you are able, try the mama heating pad. I hatched a solitary quail chick from 30 eggs, (15 were smashed in post, packaging sucked!). It peeped non stop until we made Blooie's mama heating pad. Calmed right down after that. It's possible it found not just solitary and lack of a mother distressing but also the light for heat.

So, we just had 7 of 11 eggs hatch on our first try at incubating eggs. Five hatched on 6/15 and two more hatched on 6/16. I moved the first 5 to the brooder when they were dry the morning of the 16th and let the one that had just hatched that morning stay in the incubator with the other one that was still trying to hatch so it could dry off and get strong enough to walk and not be picked on by the others. Just today (6/17) I moved that one to the brooder since it was walking fine. Now it is standing in the middle of the brooder incessently cheeping non stop. I showed it where the food and water was and the other chicks are eating and drinking fine. Since, in my past experience with having chicks, if one does something like peck for food or drink, the others follow along and do it too. This one isn't following along. Could there be something else wrong? The other chick are not pecking it so that isn't the issue. Thanks for any insight anyone can give me.

When chicks hatch they imprint on the first moving object that they see. The single chick never according to your timeline ever saw its siblings and now it thinks that it's a people. So that means that it thinks that you're its mommy and it misses you. It's crying because it wants you to nurture and warm it.

The first 5 that hatched were in the incubator still when the peeper hatched. They were very mobile by that time and kept pecking it so I moved them to the brooder and left the one to dry out and to let another egg continue to hatch. Today I got it to drink a bit but it wouldn't eat.

I have 5 game chicks they are about a week old and are eating and drinking fine but they will not stop peeping. They were given to me by a friend do you think they miss their mom?
