Hi everyone! I'm new to owning chickens and love it so far....My girls have been teaching me a lot about my yard and they entertain us daily.
I have gotten a few negative responses from friends about owning chickens in the city and it has been a challenge responding to their CDC
reports. Some friends have even told me that they would not be coming over with their children, which is sad, because they can learn so much
and benefit from seeing a chicken leave eggs and clean the garden. Amazes me how these friends let their dogs lick their kids faces and their
pet cat is on the kitchen table and they are worried about backyard chickens! I would love to hear your experiences and I look forward to sharing
mine!

I'm an artist and I'm working on a few watercolors of chickens and roosters...I hope you like this one!

Welcome to BYC! That is a dazzling rooster picture that you have painted. Don't let some ignorant acquaintances keep you from living your dreams. What kind of chickens do you have?

My tenants were sent printed reports from the CDC (Government agency-Center for Disease Control and Prevention) regarding the dangers of owning backyard chickens in the city. It scared them and fortunately I was able to calm them down.

Welcome to BYC!

What a lovely picture! You have great talent! My father did a lot of water color. It is such a lovely medium

Great to have you aboard and keep up the fine artwork!!!

Maybe you should send your friends/neighbors some info. on toxaplasmosis (I'm sure it's spelled wrong) that you can get from cat droppings/ special danger to pregnant women, and we all know what kind of 'things" dogs lick.

I guess they don't eat eggs either because - well - look where eggs come from. You just have to learn to turn a deaf ear. When they don't want to bring their kids over - tell them - you will miss seeing them if that's their choice.
