I have never dealt with an eggbound hen, but I must ask if you think it might be a possibility.
Panting can mean they are in pain.
If it were my chicken I'd try putting her in a small tub/bucket of warm water and hold her/let her soak her bottom for 15-20 minutes to see if that helped.
I have read that it is very dangerous to try to feel in the vent for an egg, as it can break.
