Hello. I have 3 red star chickens that are all the same age (5 months old). 1 started laying a few weeks ago but the other two haven't. Last week, Daisy began acting strange. She would hang out by herself but would still join her sisters on occasion. She seemed to snap out of it so we thought it was due to her getting ready to lay. On Monday she was just as active as her sisters. Yesterday (Tuesday) she stayed in the coop when I let her sisters out. She finally came out an hour or so later but then stayed under the fig tree pretty much the entire day. She let us pick her up which is unusual. We carried her over to the water and she drank it but did not eat anything. She could walk and move but was just kind of out of it. This morning, she was laying down on the floor of the coop. We moved her down to the bottom level and put her next to the food and water. She did not drink or eat anything. It looked as though she could not walk very well but we couldn't tell for sure. Unfortunately, we both had to leave for work right away so we cannot monitor her progress today. We did give her some PolyViSol which is for a riboflavin deficiency. We had to use it on her other sister when she was 2 weeks old. Any ideas on what it could be? I have not noticed any discolored poop, but we do not know if she has been going. We did check and her bottom is clean.

Forgot to mention- her chest is puffed out and her tail is drooping.

EDIT: She's gone

. We don't know what came over her but we do know that she loved her big backyard and free ranging and her sisters.

Sorry for your loss. May have had an impacted crop. The puffy chest and not eating is usually a clue. So hard to loose our sweet chicks.
