While you are constructing a coop for her, maybe a large box in the garage or shed would give her somewhere to shelter while she is waiting. Or an old doghouse.

That's a great idea, thanks. We couldn't find her the first few nights and I thought she might have been going into the garage - turns out she's been sleeping under a tarp on the lawn. Maybe we can convince her to go to the garage instead.
