Chicken aggression

My BCM recently hatched 2 eggs. The chicks are about 5 days old and have just recently started exploring outside with mom. I've had my EE seperate do from her and the chicks since she went broody. Today I was transferring the chicks back into the half of the coop that was sectioned off and my BCM and EE got into a fight.

How long can I expect the BCM to be aggressive and protective of the chicks?

Your broody will normally be protective of her chicks anywhere from 3-6 weeks, occasionally longer. The fighting between your hens is normal and unless it becomes bloody I'd leave well enough alone. The broody is telling the other hen "steer clear!" ..
