Hi guys,

My first time here and would like to say hi to everyone. I lived in Westminster (Orange County) all my life and have an interest in raising hens in my back yard. I tried searching it on my city website and nothing came up.

So does any one know if raising chicken is legal in Westminster? From what I know Huntington Beach is able to....so is irvine and stuff.

Please let me know guys. Thank you.

Do you fall under an HOA where you live? That is something to factor in as even if the local statutes allow it, the HOA regulations may not.

That said - here is a previous post for you to read through - while the information is a couple of years old it will give you a place to start as to the specific ordinances that address it so you can contact the appropriate office to inquire if any changes have been made to the ordinance.

Very much appreciated for the fast response. How do I know if I fall under H o A? Is there a number I can call to find out?

Just looked up what HOA means from the sound of it I do not fall under HOA.

I think you would know if you belonged to an HOA.....it's an agreement to abide by certain rules about what you must do (yard maintenance, home upkeep, memberships, that kind of thing) and what you can't do (certain lawn ornaments, painting your house an "unacceptable" color, some even forbid veggie gardens!) and if you fall under an HOA you had to sign that contract.

Thanks for the clarification. I can confirm that my resident don't fall under HOA. Phew ....one down one more to go... Time to call City Hall/Clerk and ask them straight up.

From the looks if it ...I believe allows chicken since #1 says same thing as number two but with different animals. Right?
