chicken anatomy question

What's a "vent"? Several posts have talked about checking their chicken's vent. I went to the learning center and clicked on chix anatomy but no vent was shown. Apparently if my chicken is sick I am supposd to check its vent-- where is the vent and what am I checking for?

The vent is the opening where the poop comes out, and the eggs come out. There is only one opening in chickens.

the vent is the opening, on the fluffy underside of your bird, from which both eggs (hopefully) and excrement are exuded. With male birds, of course, the vent contains the male organ rather than the route to the female organ.
