well, i have 19 chicken eggs and 9 quail eggs. i just put the chicken eggs in the incubator tonight. and i was wondering how long should i wait before setting the quail eggs in there.

also i made an incubator out of an ice chest- it has a hot water heater thermostat which is hooked up to a light bulb, it also has a fan in there that runs all the time. i was wondering if the average temp. of 98.5f is going to work. it comes on at 97 degrees and goes of at 100 degrees???????

    Thanks

By moving the light bulb closer or further, you actually control the time on and off. The ratio between on and off will set the average temperature. Try to get 99.5 if you can. Make the cycle of on and off quicker will get better hatch than longer cycle.

Quails are 16 to 18 days to hatch. So i would set them 3 days after your chicken eggs.
