Help! My favorite girl was just attacked by a dog and I think her crop may have been severely injured. Needing some advice before I put her down. Does this look like her crop has been eaten away? Graphic pic!

Welcome to BYC. Sorry about your hen. It does look like the crop is open. Is there enough of it to sew back together? Is going to a vet possible? It may have too much missing to repair. I wish I could help.

I am so sorry this has happened might we one they do not recover from birds are resilient
first do you have Betadine or Chlorhexidine to clean it giver her a chance she is in shock just now triple antibiotic can be used after washed No peroxide can be used even soap and warm water can be

I don’t see anything that can be seen together. The avian vet is closed today, but I may just take her to the emergency vet. I’m not sure they know anything about chickens but I don’t know what else to do.

Do you have a way to clean it warm water and mild soap will let you see how bad it really is and help her

What do you have for first aid? Rinsing it with water from a kitchen sprayer can help to see better, but betadine, chlorhexidene, or Vetericyn wound spray are what I would use. If there is not enough of the crop left to sew together, I would probably put her down or have her euthanized. So sorry this happened.

Would be worth a try as many lived with dog attacks do not do more than wash and remove impeding feathers if you want to take her to a vet.. If you choose to let her go and need help how just let us know so we may be able to guide you... There is no judgement either way from any of us
