Im new and dont know what im doing but am trying to find a local chicken auction. How can I do this?

If you're new to chickens, I don't suggest an auction. It's a place where desperate people usually sell sick and low quality/misrepresented birds - and it can take an experienced eye to catch small signs of sickens.

If you still want to risk it, ask around. Sometimes local feedstore owners will know of auctions.

That isn't always the case at all. I sell the birds that I raise and don't meet the breed standard that I'm breeding for. There's absolutely nothing wrong with them other than the fact they don't meet my breeding flock criteria.

Of course not always, but I have to admit I haven't seen very many correctly represented birds at the auctions I've been to, and it seems like the large number of them seem to be run-down or sickly. But that may be more due to my location (aka middle of nowhere).

i went to 1 recently at mt.hope it was an exotic animal/bird auction they had alot of show qualitys (you could always tell the higher qualitys becouse there was somebodey there knowing what they where doing and some silkies went for alot of money well to me anyway but probly not to you ppl of course my dad was not 1 of them a bunch of cochins came up and they where very sickly and i nudged him "sold to the man in the tan jacket for $3 each and i luaghed and said i didnt mean to bid on them). but anyway i looked up "livestock auctions near (my town)" on bing and found several
