Hi, one of my chickens has a bald spot on her chest and a small one coming on her bottom. We are unsure if this is caused by mites? We have been cleaning the coop regularly with powder and spray. I also read about molting as it looks like she has pin feathers? But I am not sure of the molting process? Another hen, that has recently started laying, has also begun to get a small bald spot on her chest.
I have attached a picture below, we have now put a little chicken scarf on her as the spot was attracting our other girls to peck which we think has made it worse.
Can anyone advise me further? Thank you 😊

How can I prevent this?
May not be a "cure all" but someone correct me if I'm wrong: there is protein in the white part of a feather. I purchased turkey starter grain in the winter months (28 % protein). I've got 11 girls. Every other day I mix 1 cup of this with their regular layer food and moistened cooked oats.
