I have 5 Buff Orpington's, 5 Barred Rocks, 5 Red Stars, and 1 White Ameraucana. All are hens.

There is one Buff that is very loud, she calls constantly as soon as the sun comes up. It is a very loud bruuuuaaaackkkkkk!!! She will patrol the run going in circles calling and she is the only one that does this. I live in somewhat of a suburban area and it is starting to irritate the neighbors. Is there anything I can do to correct her behavior?

Thanks,

Brian

Many times a hen will take over the role of rooster if there is not a rooster present. They will even "Crow". There is not much you can do about it as she is now the dominent hen. All I know is that you would probably have to get rid of her as I have never heard of anyone breaking a hen of doing this except for by getting a rooster which is obviously what you were avoiding by getting all hens. We have a hen that started crowing even though there are roosters all around her. We have 17 full grown roosters. But she only did it for about 2 weeks then quit.
