Fairly new at chickens...but having a blast with them! Today, I saw them do something haven't seen before...come out of the coop into the sun and lay on their sides - outside wings lifted lup and outside leg stretched out - LOL - I have seen them dig and almost bury themselves in the sand I have here (horse pasture), and seen them give themselves dust baths....wondered what this was - sunning themselves? All three immediately came out of the coop and did this...need some behavior experts! They don't appear sick and they got up fast when I came back with some chopped up left over green beans from last night! I remember how worried I was when they started quickly squatting down (before they began laying) and I was sure something was wrong! Then I found the answer to that one! LOL So anyone see this with their hens?
