Hello, I have been reading various posts for a while now, but only just signed up.

We live in Southampton, so have neighbours around. I have 2 gorgeous chickens, well had 3 before mr. Fox visited us one day..

The problem in having is that only since about 3 weeks ago my chcalk hill blue chicken started being so noisy every single morning and only when my white chicken goes to lay an egg, if they're together they're fine and quiet. and it's only my blue that's doing it. at first I thought they're warning noises for a fox, but they vary now and haven't seen a fox for s while.
I'm wondering if there's anything am doing wrong that she needs to shout every morning or maybe she wanted something?
Hope anybody can help.
I am worried my neighbours might get annoyed. At the same time I finished work at 3 and neck been up since 6, because of her.

I am sorry to read of your loss.

If your blue girl cannot see your white girl, she may be lonely and upset that she is on her own.

When I only had two chickens, if one was inside the coop laying and the other was in the run, she would get upset.

If the blue chicken is in the coop with the white one when she is laying, she may be advertising her disapproval of the white chicken being in “her nest box”. I have a hen who will kick up quite a stink when someone else is in her favourite nest box, regardless of whether she wants to lay an egg or not.

They can be very vocal when they are not happy about something; the trick is finding out what that something is. Just a guess on my part, but I think that lonely and upset that she is temporarily on her own is probably the more likely.
