A few of my chickens have a crusty substance basically filling their nostril opening. What's causing this? And if it's a disease/infection will the carry it for life?
Would a dusty coop cause this? (i was using old hay as bedding, but it got EXTREMLY dusty so i cleanded it out)

Are you sure it isn't just food crammed up in there, mixed with dirt? Sometimes, they just get stuff up in there, especially when they are free ranging and digging in the woods.

I dont think it is... It's pale yellow in color, and the feed is more of a tan (ish) color. But i guess there's no way to be completly sure....

We had one do that once we cleaned it really well and use Vet Rex on the beak. I don't know that it does anything but it helped.

Does the coop smell like ammonia or is it particularly stuffy because that can bother their respiratory system.

I'd clean it out and put a little VetRx in the water to be safe.
