As I really got into chickens and a became a hatchalic, I initially wanted to sell chicks to make some of my feed -money back. So I bought same pure Ameraucana chicks. It seems that many people had the same idea. As I look in Craigs List there are about 5 other people who have Ameraucana chicks already for sale. So I bought what I was told were a pure Maran couple, (but found out they were not), but see that there are others with pure Marans for sale also.
What am I to do? Go ahead and produce what I have and hope I sell enough for upkeep?, try and find more pure breeds hopeing there isn't anyone with those to sell, list what I have in chicken forums and ship them? Or just stop hatching and cut my population way back and not hatch?
How are those of you who sell chicks, handling this?
I need advice, because I will have to invest in Pure Marans if I am to sell them, but others already have them for sell... along with Polish, and Silkies.
Any ideas are most welcomed.

There is a difference between Ameraucanas and Easter Eggers. However, not many people realize this. So, a lot of people and hatcheries call Easter Eggers, Ameraucanas, when they are really Easter Eggers. So the ones for sale might really be Easter Eggers.

I am assuming you mean you purchased real Ameraucanas. They are special and not everyone has them.

My advice is to have the breeds that you LOVE. That is you really love to keep and breed them. To sell chicks is an aside.

(I don't sell chicks.)
