Chicken Breed Focus - Dorking

I just bought 7 four-week old Silver Grey Dorking pullet's late this afternoon. They seem pretty tame, as they didn't run away when I picked them up. The sun's going down now so I'll try getting pictures tomorrow.
Wait until they grow up, they are adorable, short bodies w/big feet!

According to something that I read online about them, is that the Dorking females start laying egg's at 26 week's old. That will put my 7 that I just got starting to lay the middle of January 2021.

That is a good time, in PHX! Not so much here, 17" of snow last Christmas and more in Jan.

Since this is my first time with the full on Silver Grey Dorking's, I just did another search about them. We all know how sometime's boy's will get thrown in with the batches of chick's. Anyway's according to this, by the time these are 6 week's old (and mine are 4 week's now), any boy's will already be showing black breasts while the females will have the salmon color.

Looking at getting some hopefully next season, but I've heard that they gave a lethal gene because of their legs. Anyone have more information about this?

I have no idea about that. Let us know if you find out after you do more research about that.

That is the same with brown leghorns. You can tell the boys pretty young just by the breast color. I found it to be pretty reliable even at 4 weeks, they are pretty feathered out at that age. I have not had a silver bird, but I think the rose colored breast would be showing already on your 4 week olds. Kind of a robin breast color.

Here's my 7 little 4 week old SGD's.
