Chicken Breed Focus - Dorking

Dorkings are the best. I had a Dorking pullet (ordered a cockerel, got a pullet) recently who was the sweetest thing ever. I found her dead in her pen around a month ago. Losing a chicken is sometimes like losing a close family member.

Sorry that you lost that one. Where you get it from?

I don't suppose that you live near to me. I could let 1 or 2 of these go. The lady that I got them from only had 7 available, so I bought her out.

@Pullet Press The lady that I bought them from just told me that's where these came from also. They came from McMurray Hatchery.

I got a good look at the 7 new SGD chick's that I got today. One of them does have the black chest feather's, so this one is a boy. I still have the 6 pullet's, though.

I bought another SGD pullet today from the same lady that I bought those other 7 from. This one had gotten mixed up in another brooder of chick's that she had. So, when she discovered it, she asked me if I wanted this one too. Now I have 7 SGD pullet's and a cockerel that are all about 2 1/2 month's old.

I like them. They are also easier to tell the sex of because at 3 to 4 week's old the males will grow in the black feathering on the chest area, but the girl's grow in the peachy color instead.
