Chicken Breed Focus - Jersey Giant

Pics
My Black Jersey Giant hen has 14 chicks with her sired by a supersize Buff Orpington Rooster. It looks like the chicks are sex-link-color at hatching. Roosters have yellow and dark, hens all brown. "Mommy" is a fantastic mother, all 14 pastured chicks with her are adolescents now.

That's awesome.

I hope my Jersey Giants make that good mothers, as I'm hoping to raise eggs under them.

I have 2 j g almost 15 weeks now I ordered one black jersey giant rooster. With my order of chick's this sprinh. We have a Brooke near our house so lots of birds of prey. They sent me 2. One is named Rex he is massive already must push 7 8 lbs. The other one named turkey dinner he is noticeably smaller then rex. Rex took over a month to feather out all the other chick's had feathers and he wad almost bald with a few wings feathers for what seemed like forever. Hence the name rex. I have now grown attached to them both and am thinking of making a bachelor pad for my roosters. They are very calm birds. Rex knows he is the king of the coop the others don't even try. and turkey looks at me with his big eyes like I'm his chicken momma and it makes me feel guilty about wanting to use him for thanksgiving dinner.

I've got 4 JG hens just coming on one yr old and still filling out...I had a few broody hens this summer and let them hatch out a few promising eggs...????? I don't have any JG Roos but I do have a Huge White Rock Rooster...and from the looks of the youngsters he is a very fertile rooster....I've got one not so little guy who's Dad can only be Big Roger the Huge WR roo and a Cochin cross....but there are four or five chicks that look like seagulls...and are almost as big as some of the Hampshire hens I have....they must weight at least 4 lbs and are still growing....??? Anyone know what a White Rock X JG hen might look like??

these are my boys. 2nd pic is one trying to crow

Um, no but given both JGs and WRs are solidly built birds I sure wouldn't expect them to look like sleek flying gulls!
They are still young yet...if you look at them thru the side of your eye...they look like small seagulls....their coloring the gray and white...bright yellow beaks and legs...the combs haven't gotten real evident yet...and to tell you the truth...they take on a pretty "Sleek Look" when one of the old hens takes exception to them being in close proximity to her food!!! They all but take flight....legs churning, wings flapping...making a serious attempt to take to the wing...scattering in all possible directions....as I said...ok Roger seems to have put his "Stamp" on things around here....he's a Big Bird..and he is heavy....but he is not chunky....he is proportionate to his size...hence...his babies are still trim teenagers....I will have to try to get a picture of him...the freezing temperatures this past winter gave him a Crew Cut...his comb lost its points...he kinda looks like he's got a Big Red Mohawk hair-do..I sure do love that big Bird.

Pictures of the BJG hen and the WR rooster crossing? Might be an interesting color pattern on the birds.

Just bought JG today. A local breeder was getting out if them so I bought what he had left which was a 1 year old breeding pair, 4 5 week olds, 3 3 week olds and 5 5 day olds. Plus he thru in a dozen hatching eggs plus a barred rock pullet. All except 4 are blue.
