Chicken Breed Focus - Maline

Pics
Are there any issues bringing hatching eggs over the border from Canada to the US? I live on the Canadian border only a few hours from some Maline breeders, including Shellz.

What do you mean by issues? There are a number of perishable food items that can be transported over international borders and eggs are on that list of perishables. Do you wish to declare these eggs as fertilized hatching eggs or edible farm fresh eggs? Your plan is to eat them and not hatch them correct? Consumable! Enough said. Now do you still want to know if there are any issues?

Right.. eating eggs! Those Canadian eggs make superior omelets. Should those border crossing guards be on extra alert for hatching eggs smugglers there's no chance they prove intent. Perhaps I should do soft-boiled so that I better savor those exquisite Canadian eating eggs.

The fact is why would you care if they are fertile or not if you plan to eat them. How are they going to inspect for fertility? Not!! Its a loop hole and a gamble but that's how its done within the law. If you decide to try and hatch some out, well, you liked the taste so well you took a gamble to raise your own? I would hope you are bringing back some other groceries across the border as well that day?!

Well, I typically eat bacon with my eggs... toast if it's with soft-boiled. Now that I think of it I haven't had peameal bacon in a while. I believe that's a Canadian specialty as well as the Maline eatin' eggs.

As it turns out,my wifes mom has worked for a lady for the last 25 yrs. Guess where this lady is from? CANADA!!They travel back and forth CONSTANTLY.I'M going to try the hatching eggs angle!!

Nice of them to pick up some farm fresh eggs for you!

I just wanted to clarify...in my post #21..."the last chicks I'll be raising." I am getting out of Malines & breeding altogether.

It was a good 2 years, but life happens & choices needed to be made. I will always look fondly upon the Malines & hope there will be new stewards to take them on & breed them up.

I am still willing to chat & share all I've learned about them.

dashcan,
Some malines breeders including Shellz? Just so's you know, my conversation was about the Canada to U.S. international link for perishable items such as eggs and issues bringing them across the border. Proper and improper ways to approach it? Just want to clarify I didn't mention chicken breeds or names. I hope you find the link your looking for.
