Chicken Breed Focus - Maline

Pics
Fear not. My eggs are to come from a hereto undisclosed distributer of Maline eating eggs, who just so happens to be located in the general vicinity of Shellz (within 20 miles, or 500 I don't remember).

Shellz, I hope your fortunes change for the better so that you may breed again someday as you clearly seem to hold a passion for it. Thank you.

Whew!! Thanks for stating and posting this. Shellz has been a great friend and help to me and I surely hope she someday gets back into it again also. I think I stated before that I live in Michigan? I have some great malines birds. 2 bloodlines and some great depth to breeding next spring. Contact me if you get stumped.

Glad you found a source of Malines eating eggs. They are truly spectacular! Yolks are large & plump.

Should be worth the wait & cheaper than arranging thru GF.
No multi quote on my iPad today.

Hi I know I am late on this but here goes.
I have Malines, a small flock.
And am new to them but have found them to be a wonderful breed to own.
They are Docile, easy to have around, don't wander far and do not fly high so can be kept in a pen 4' high.
Lay regular extra large eggs, dress out real well. Best homestead Heritage I have come across.

I agree, Dream River. I have yet to find any other heritage breed that can put on meat (particularly on drumsticks, which is only part our teen son will eat) as well as the Malines do. Meat stays tender & juicy up to 6 months of age. We roasted a 7 month old cockerel once - was starting to get a bit tough. A good soak overnight in a brine solution before roasting, probably would've softened him up.
