Chicken Breed Focus - Silkie

No, those things are normal silkie behaviors. Where did you get your silkies?
I'm from NC and got them in a town near Greensboro. They said these were from their parents stock who were older but used to show. They are very pretty silkies. I have 4 black, 1 paint, and 2 splash. I originally got them to breed but if I don't have a rooster that won't be possible, but i'm perfectly okay with that. I will just breed to my serama roo. I think it could be a coloring.

I know not the best pictures, sorry for that! Just curious if you guys want to take a guess

Oh yes, they are definitely show birds, very pretty!! I have 2 hatchery silkies.. sweet, but non-bearded and not poofy crests, so im having a hard time figuring them out (both males and females dont have as much poof for a while). Well.. give it a couple more weeks and see if you get more pronounced comb or some waddles going!! Its still a little early, but i think the next couple weeks will be a good indicator.

Silkie Pullet or Roo? 12-13 weeks of age! I see a little bit on red coming in above the beak (pictured where he/she is wet after a bath) Has had some feather loss on the back and on wings due to a fight with another hen. I have 6 other silkies same age with red only coming in below beak on the side of face so i'm a little confused!
This is my Little Rooster Abner, he did start out as Amber, my little sizzler silkie/frizzle rooster is the dark grey & he's 4 weeks old, the last photo is one of Abners tail & the white is one of my girls

How old is Abner in the latest pic? Sooo adorable. The crest had me wondering about mine.. i wonder every day.

Ok, i think Marty is a roo.. but Princess.. hmm.. i have one that is very similar to princess... nothing overtly male, but not a poofy crest either. I think you need to wait on that one. I should get dna results on my black one hopefully tomorrow.. but it looks super similar to yours.. except im seeing hackle feathers possibly on yours (mine are 2 weeks younger than yours). Ill let you know what mine turns out to be along w pics so you can compare.
