Chicken breeds that dont jump high

which do you think are less broody orpingtons or the sussex breeds, your run sounds amazing and super huge :) I have a 4x 3 coop and have portioned off part of my garden for them to have free reign over. I will try and get some pictures in my next forum post. its a pretty big area they have and ill just lock them in at night

I have several breeds and the only one that go over the fence, and its only occasional, are the americaunas. They are lighter than the other heavies that I have. If they have enough to keep themselves busy and content they really shouldn't try to escape. I never toss a loose bird back over the fence. I don't want them to learn from that. I also feed treats out away from the gate and fence. I try to keep their focus away from unwanted areas. Chickens learn, pay attention to your actions. They tend to go where we go, thats how I train mine to stay put. When I still let them run loose, my husband would go the the end of the drive to get the mail...and so did the chickens!! They are so inquisitive. I think any heavy breed will be fine for you. There is a chance any breed can go broody. Right now its my cochin and a dominique hen. Go to hatchery web sites you can read about breeds that they sell. That is how I learned about each breed before I bought them. Good luck!!
