Yesterday I let all my girls out of the run...I was watching them a bit when I noticed one of the hens back side seemed...."deflated" for lack of a better description...

All the other ones butts were puffed up round ends...and her's was droopy, feather's hanging, more of a vertical flatness about it...They had all laid their eggs for the day...not sure if there was something wrong...

I tried to get a picture, but it is not showing exactly what I saw...

I have 16 chickens, all of whom have very fluffy bottoms. One of mine takes absolute FOREVER in the nest box to lay her egg. When she comes out, you can tell she's been sitting for a long time because her feathers are flattened (the ones below her vent). In order to get that flattened pattern, you would expect her to be sitting on her backside like a human. It's weird.

My broody's feathers, who does nothing but sit day and night, are still just as fluffy as can be.
