Chicken can't stand or walk, paralyzed??

Pics
So maybe it is just false hope. But Ethel made her mommy very happy this morning and excited. When we took her out of her bed getting ready to feed her, she was standing on her own and actually tried to take a couple steps forward. She isn't standing on her toes. As you can see she's still standing on her legs but she is trying so much harder to stand up then she has ever shown. Mommy is on cloud nine right now, although I know what is likely ahead of us.

I told my mom last night, and Curt today, that I'd never get any chickens because they don't live long enough, but once Ethel is gone, I may change my mind, as she really has stole my heart. I'll have to look into the best place to get them. I know our local Feed stores sell the each spring as day old chicks l, and I'm sure there are locals that sell them also, but I will definitely make sure they have the proper vaccinations that they need since they will be our babies. I just hope they get along with goats as they'll live in the same yard as the goats, who are also our babies.
Ethel did get to spend a couple hours outside today (in a totally enclosed pen since we do have hawks). I think she really enjoyed being out there. And I'll definitely go get some live meal worms and see if she'll eat them. I'll also try a raw egg from one of the other hens. I was surprised to learn recently that chickens eat eggs, even raw. Has a few silkies and a frizzle that she keeps in a yard with her Great Pyrenees, separate from the other chickens, and they have been laying eggs on her front porch instead of in their nesting boxes. So this morning I found three eggs they had laid and dropped so they were cracked so I threw them out into the yard and they all rushed over and ate them which was quite shocking to me. But I'm learning a lot about chickens and I'm happy to be doing so.
Born on mother's Day last year so they are 9 months old and hubby still brings the twins and mama in the house to eat every morning and every night. He is as much of a compassionate sap as I am when it comes to animals

What wonderful news! I like Ethel's outdoor arrangement- it is so beautiful on the east coast today, no doubt she is soaking in all that vitamin D which is so good for all of us!

Enjoy these moments with her- it is a nice reward for all you have done for her!

Something else I forgot to mention in my last post. I was noticing. Well. Let me say that previously in my post I had commented about feeling a very solid mass sort of in between her legs towards her vent area and then the vet also commented on that in the recording. But I felt of her today and whatever I felt a week or two ago is not there. So I'm kind of wondering what's up with that? Wishful thinking maybe? All I know is whatever I felt was rock hard and now it's gone.

Hope everyone is having a nice weekend. I just want to post a quick update on Ethel. She is still doing great, getting stronger every day, and actually making it a bit more difficult to tube feed her. But she still won't eat so we're continuing with that. She's still on all her vitamins and loving the nice days where she can get some fresh air and sunshine. And, she has started grooming herself.

That is so great to hear!! In your last post you said you couldn't feel the mass inside her. Has anything changed re that?
I can feel it at times, but at other times I can't , so could it just be her 💩 maybe sitting in there before she passes it? I wouldn't think it would be so hard if that's what it is. Strange though that it comes and goes though if it's not that. I'm just happy that she is getting stronger it seems every day, and continuously trying to take steps.

So I just had to post this. This was from one of our cameras this morning. The camera doesn't have sound but every time she put her head up like she did she was talking up a storm. And as you can see in the video she tries to take two steps and doesn't fall over this time. I told my mom, who I think I mentioned earlier had a stroke and his still not able to walk by herself but is improving greatly, did her and Ethel would both start walking on the same day. I know my mother will walk again and I still have high hopes for Ethel as she has come so far. I just wish she would eat on her own, that would make me feel so much better. Does anyone have any thoughts on why she might not be eating on her own yet?
