We have chicken wire around the area that the chickens live in and never had this problem. However, found chicken stuck in the fence yesterday evening after unknown time there. No blood or any wound injury at all. However, chicken has her head completely down. Yesterday after it happened she walked around with her neck up but today just with her head completely down. She drinks water and walks a few steps. Any thoughts would be appreciated. I've had chickens a long time (15+) years but never one that was caught in fence specific for chickens and other small animals. Any suggestions to improve outcome?

When there is symptoms of wry neck from head or neck injury (or other causes,) most people give vitamin E 400 IU daily giving orally for a week or two. A little scrambled egg can also supply selenium which helps the E to be utilized. Hopefully she will improve in a few days. I would offer food a couple times a day, such as a watery mash of chicken feed and the egg. Make sure that she is not bullied or pecked by the others, or separate her.

Like how was she stuck? Is she a small breed and Did she get her head through a little space in the poultry fencing? Maybe the holes are too big? Can you switch to hardware cloth ?
