Chicken chat!

Peppermint: I love meat whenever I can get it! I've never had steak though! And I love cheese. It's a little sticky, though. Gets all over my beak. Oh! Have you ever had whip cream? It looks all solid, but guess what? IT'S NOT!! We pecked it, thinking it was solid, and it got all the way up to someones' eyes!

SOPHIA: no, i haven't had whipped cream. my mommy is a real stickler about sugar. She gives us sugar free yogurt even! I have never had cheese, but I'll tell my mommy she'd better get me some. When we peck the yogurt, have you ever had it?, it gets all over us. On our combs, in our noses, all over our backs, tails, and heads. But we love it! You should try it sometime.

Peppermint: I don't think that I have had yogurt, but it sounds amazing! It's so much fun to get messy. Dirt baths are the best, too. And sunbaths. Why do the humans think water baths are the best? Getting wet and cold is NOT the same as getting clean!

SOPHIA: my mommy tired to give me a bath once. I might be small, but I am a fighter for my rights! Long story short, she gave up. I love dust baths. You are exactly right! Getting wet and cold are not the same thing as getting clean! I love getting messy too. I like to step in poop and then run over and get on my mommy's nice, clean jeans.

Peppermint: Oh, that's always fun too, getting them all dirty. And, I heard that she gave that soft, blue beaked chicken a bath, and it came back wet, cold AND pink! Shows you how dangerous baths are. This is what she looked like!

SOPHIA: Oh my gosh! I am never letting mommy catch me for a bath again. Although, once, a bath did do one of my sisters good. Her name is Henrietta. I'll ask her to join the chat later. Anyway, our sister Lucy was perching on a box (this is back when we were chicks) and Henny was underneath her. Lucy pooped. It was all over Henny's back. Mommy wasn't happy. She took her upstairs and gave her a bath in the sink. Mommy said that she still stunk, so she put some lavender hand soap on her (it was all natural). She came back clean, white, and smelling of lavender. Here is Henrietta:
She walks funny because almost all of her toes are broken, and her back is kind of bare in this picture because of the rooster mating her, but she is pretty and has always been very white since that bath, although she doesn't smell like lavender anymore.

Peppermint: Wow! I have never been pooped on so far. Poor Henrietta! I would like to meet her sometime :) She has kind of a similar pattern to you. There are two other hens in my flock that look like me, a Black Australorp, Patty, who was brought home with me, and a Black sexlink named Pixie. Pixie is really cool because she is changing color right now from molting I think. I wish I could do that!

SOPHIA: she does have the same pattern as me, she is a Columbian Rock as well! I just asked her to be in our chat thread and she said yes. I wish I could change color!
HENRIETTA: Hi! I'm Henrietta, Sophia's sister. It's so great that we have a chat thread! By the way, nice to meet you Peppermint!

Peppermint: Hi Henrietta! It's great to meet you, too! Chickens should have more chat threads. I mean it is called "Backyard CHICKENS". I'm glad you recovered from the poop incident when you were younger. Are you wary of standing under roosts now? And Sophia, sorry, I thought you were a Brahma, oops :D I should invite my "sister", Patty to join. She's the chicken that appears next to my writing when what I say shows up on the computer thing.
