I think Children's books using any kind of medium (chickens being one of those) can work. The bigger thing is resonating with the reader. If you're going to write a book about keeping chickens... you've got a really small market there. If you keep it light and focus on maybe the chickens and their silly lives and their eggs, etc. you probably could come up with something readable. Remember whether you "Sell" the book or not- it's the parents who will choose to read it to their children.

Well, I think it's a great idea. I don't have any kids, but I'd love to see what you can come up with. We need more chicken themed books out there.

Yeah, my local library (thats where I get all my books to read) has only a few. There is one that was REALLY helpful to read before I got my chickens. Even though it was a kids book, it was awesome. It had lots of the basic chicken keeping things that you need to know...and also colored pictures, and very bright cover. I gave that book a 5 star!!!!
(It was a kids book, so it didn't have anything about butchering.)

Its amazing what we can learn from Kids books. I actually work at a Library, and I've looked through the handful of Chicken Childrens Books (fiction) in the Kids section. You can tell that they were not written by Chicken owners. It would be cool to see some fiction books about Chickens that were actually written by chicken keepers, who actually know and understand Chickens.
