Chicken clogged with poop-Lethargic?

Quote:
Gatorade contains a lot of sugar. I would look for the vitamins and electrolytes when picking up the antibiotic. I would administer the vitamins first before doing any antibiotics. You do not want to unnecessarily medicate.

EDIT: You might want to pick up some Wazine also. If you have not wormed her lately, she may have worms.

will defiantly give it a go.

The diarrhea & lethargic behavior is most likely due to a nutritional deficiency. All hens at laying age should be on a complete layer feed or its equivalent.
Scratch is just something to be given as a treat.
See if you can find some Sav-A-Chik or its equivalent to put in her water. In the meantime, you could add a little sugar, or Gatorade, to her water to give her a little boost until you can get to the feed store.
Hens need layer ration, grit, oyster shell calcium for their egg shells to be strong, and plenty of fresh, clean water.

I Went to the feed store this morning picked up electrolytes, layer, and oyster shells (after reading a article provided) brought it to the coop and she had passed. She had made it through the night (I placed her in the cubby as I wasn't sure if she would make it or not) because I could see she had slept in the nest and pooped. She didnt look distressed her face hadn't got worse and her eyes and mouth were closed-I think she probably got down this morning and was still weak and just succombed.

Quick Question- I have a button quail that is eating seed (what the lady that gave her to me had her on) could I use the oyster shell (lays a lot of eggs) or the layer feed on her? If not anything better to feed her?

She will be dearly missed, big personality...

Thank you all again I really do appriciate the help

I think it probably was a number of things her immune system was probably already down from the lack of nutriants and then the mites (BTW she had sticktrite fleas-I believe they are called) plus the sevin...

Her rooster passed away two months ago due to a cancerous tumor in his eye cavity- She did really well after he passed though and then this just hit her. She had a great life many will miss them.

Thanks again,
Taylor

I am so sorry to hear of your loss.

I couldn't find any feed that was specifically for quail, but TSC has a "gamecock maintenance formula" for game birds. The guaranteed analysis for this & the layer feed are both similar, but there are a few differences. The calcium for the chicken feed is way higher, but if yours is laying eggs, it might not be bad.
I have no good advise for I have no experience with quail. You might want to post this question in a different forum to get some useful info.
If you haven't opened the bag of feed, you could probably exchange it for some other feed more appropriate for quail. Maybe call & ask at the feed store before going there.
