Chicken cold??????

Hi!
Hoping someone can help me with my girl! She is a Bantam Cochin, just turned 3 years old and 3 pounds. She has had a runny beak, not excessive or dripping just a little wet around her nostrils and sneezing. She isn't eating as much as she normally does...thinking maybe because of a cold? She has been pooping, but it is less than normal and has more of the white in it than the brown/green that is normal for her. She is acting normal, running around doing chicken things, but does rest more than typical. Wondering what I should give her to help her out? Any advice or insight would be VERY much appreciated, as she is our pet

I did give her a dewormer treatment today, just in case and it has been a year since I gave her anything for that.

She probably has a virus from infectious bronchitis or similar. Mycoplasma (MG) can looks similar in mild strains, but it may also cause foamy eyes or swelling of the face, or rattly breathing. Viruses don't require antibiotics, but MG symptoms can be relieved by Tylan or oxytetracycline. Either of those come in powder for the water or Tylan 50 injectable given orally or as a shot.

Her eyes, face and breathing seem normal but this does seem to be slowing her down a little. Have her inside, nice and warm since we have had rain and expecting snow next week!

Tylan 50 injectable and Tylan soluble powder, as well as oxytetracycline are usually fojnd in the cattle medicines in feed stores. Those will only treat symptoms of a bacterial or mycoplasma infection. Viruses have to run their course, but antibiotics may hel prevent secondary bacterial infections in viruses.

I think she has a little virus..I haven't had a chance to get to the feed store, but I gave her some probiotics and vitamin for chickens and she is doing better...much more active, eating better...although her poop does still have more than normal white to it? Runny beak is going away so hopefully she is getting over it! Everything else looks normal thank goodness!
