Chicken coop help!

Yeah it is not okay the way they calculate number of chickens, these are both rated for 18-20 chickens, I’ll have an addition 12x12 so 144 sq feet run also for the 10 chickens. TSC doesn’t have measurements of the inside coop area that I need, I just like how these are laid out and the bottoms pull out to clean

Usually on the tsc website, you can ask a question and in about a week someone from the manufacturer gets back to you (regarding exact sizes and such).
I know that the second one you posted is newer to the tsc site as I have been looking almost every week.
Generally you can take the lowest number suggested and divide by 2, that is how many chickens you can put into a prefab. So, if it states 18-20, take 18 and divide by 2 = 9. And, that number only works if they have adequate run space. Plus, the sizes generally include nestboxes. So, subtract for that if you want the 4sq ft of space. So, maybe 7 fs birds would fit comfotably? Of course, there could be other issues - like roost and nest boxes at the same level, gaps that are drafty, having to waterproof or paint once you get it, cheap locks, ventilation, etc.

Yes with the work to the run and you would have to do and yes probably change locks things of that nature that’s a lot more work in money put into it plus you definitely don’t want overcrowding and having them injury each other. The one I have may have only held up because I keep it inside of their larger one and they have a separate coop for actually using to sleep in and such. Like I said minds just to integrate smaller chicks for short period of time. My husband and I knew absolutely nothing about building anything but building A chicken coop is really not difficult. We’ve built several now.All kinds of repurpose sing things you can do to save money. And if you go online there are tons and tons and tons of easy to make ideas that cost little money or involve repurpose sing things you can easily obtain. I think it really is worth it in the long run. And then when you build the run you can make it extremely predator proof.
