I will be moving my chickens into the coop in a week and I have a few questions regarding the coop.

1. Will the water and feeder have to be inside or outside?

2. How much roaming space does each chicken need?

3. Where can I buy more chicken wire and wood(for the frame of an extended run)?

4. Can I let my chickens free range for around 30 minutes a day or will that cause them to hate being enclosed (we've got a lot of hawks in this area so I only want to let them free range when I am outside. otherwise they could be enclosed inside a large run the entire day.)?

Thank you

Hi. I have two waters and two feeders-one inside and one out. I keep the water in the coop in the summer but take it out in the winter to avoid extra moisture.
I believe each chicken would need 4x4 square feet of space each. The more the better. Mine are enclosed in a 27x16 foot run while we are at work.
Good luck.

We bought most of our supplies at Lowes, home Depot or tractor supply.

We let out girls free-range. They used to FR all day. Recently we have had a hawk touch down. Thankfully Noone was injured. So now we do supervised FR when I get home from work.
They do want to be out and about all day but I'm afraid.

Thank you You are welcome.
