Chicken Coop

Oh wow, yeah I didn't notice the price difference I just looked at the pics! The only reason I personally liked #2 better was because it had a little better ground clearance making it easier to keep clean underneath and prevent mice or rats from making a home under there. But wow, for that much of a price difference I'd get #1 and find a way to make it a little higher. And that may not even be an issue for you depending where your going to put it.

I'm sorry but I can't imagine that #3 would hold 20 chickens but I didn't see measurements. For the perceived size though, All of those coops seem very high in price and low on size and ventilation. I'd check out the Purina Mills website link that Hondo58 provided and keep looking on CraigsList. Good luck!

Edited to say: I misread the #3 option. For the perceived size of #3 the price seems right on. I paid $400 for an plain jane 4x6x6 coop. I thought it was a good deal.

ugh. I already decided against building one ourselves. Too many other projects.. and we dont have the time nor the skills.

#3, holds 6-8 chickens according to them. It is a 4X4X3. The 20 chickens was for some other one they were advertising that was $1K. #3 does appear to not have any ventilation.

I would go with #1 and just put it on some bricks high enough that the chickens can go under it when they want some shade and attach a large run. It is kind of pricey but if you have the money and not the time to build your own then I would get it. I would also put down linoleum to make cleaning easier. With the nest boxes not taking up space in the coop you should do fine with 6 birds in there but I would not go any higher than that. May be try to negotiate the price.

It might be an issue with the location as well, its not a cheap area to live. When I called nearby stores, prices for 3X3 started at $500. #1 has ventilation at the top on both sides as well as on the access door. Is this not sufficient? 3.5X4.3 which would put it over 12sq ft for $350. I've been looking on craigslist for awhile and haven't seen any deals better then this, or the initial one I listed above. Apparently cedar is very expensive... and I guess out of my price range, even though I prefer that coop design better. *sigh* There is still a possibility that the other guy will build me another one. It will probably be an extra $100 to account for the bigger size.. so $400.
