Chicken Coop

I know you said you don't have the skills or time, but I saw online at Lowes (under sheds) an 8x 8 for 598.00
it's a "kit"...when I was looking (I'm getting 8), I looked at small sheds that could also be modified. Ebay has alot of cheap sheds, chicken coops, plans, kits.
I would have gone with the above if my husband had decided he didn't want me using part of my 12x30 shed..

I would go with #1 and just put it on some bricks high enough that the chickens can go under it when they want some shade and attach a large run. It is kind of pricey but if you have the money and not the time to build your own then I would get it. I would also put down linoleum to make cleaning easier. With the nest boxes not taking up space in the coop you should do fine with 6 birds in there but I would not go any higher than that. May be try to negotiate the price.

Thanks. I can put the linoleum down. I was planning on fencing them in a wooded area (without a top because of the trees...), would this provide sufficient shade?

The orginal guy e-mailed me back and said he'd build whatever I want and price it for me. He seems to have reasonable prices. Any ideas?? I was thinking of getting one I could easily put wheels on and handles so I could move it around.

Ventura Grain in Taunton has coops also. http://www.venturagraininc.com/

It might be an issue with the location as well, its not a cheap area to live. When I called nearby stores, prices for 3X3 started at $500. #1 has ventilation at the top on both sides as well as on the access door. Is this not sufficient? 3.5X4.3 which would put it over 12sq ft for $350. I've been looking on craigslist for awhile and haven't seen any deals better then this, or the initial one I listed above. Apparently cedar is very expensive... and I guess out of my price range, even though I prefer that coop design better. *sigh* There is still a possibility that the other guy will build me another one. It will probably be an extra $100 to account for the bigger size.. so $400.

Any modifications I should request on the original pic I posted? I think I decided 4X4 should be sufficient for the size.
