Chicken Crafts! (Show Off Your Craftiness)

I had to make a coat for one of my girls a while back. It was a throw together thing but it's holding up really well so far. Just recently had to put it on my roo after a dog plucked half of him. It's fleece-lined so keeps his back warm and protected. I wasn't worried about 'tidy seams' when i threw it together but it's holding up!

Here's the hen with it on (lost her to a stroke) it's a little snug on the roo but looks good with his coloring, lol.

Everyone thinks it's so funny to see 'clothes' on the chickens. a woman from the cable company was by today and she couldn't get over it, she loved one that is on one of my hens, has a cute heart on it (was made by lovemychix)

I'm a stay-at-home mom for the time being, so I've been building stuff and painting while the kids nap. I've never been much of a painter--usually just draw or play with ceramics.

I've been making boxes with a bunch of wood scraps. Most are going to be Easter baskets for the kids, friends and neighbors:

I built this bench on an old tree stump--gives me a place to sit while watching the hens and my son run around. The sign says "Fresh Eggs" in Czech (didn't want it in English since I don't have enough hens to "advertize" eggs):

I made this sign to go up on a small coop I plan on making out of an old outhouse:

Another box:

A Naked Neck sign:

I am not sure I really like the background material. It clashes with the chicken too much. It is a trial and error thing. I wasn't too crazy about the original rooster block pattern so I modified it. I do like the look of the project. I just need to come up with a better looking runner. I think I might change the legs too. They seem a little odd to me. I think the next one will be with a paper pieced kitty block instead of chickens.

If you're not too busy, we need one more quilter for our quilt swap group on the June 1st quilt block swap thread.

Your stuff has a very Cracker Barrel feel. I love it!
