Yep! I found a huge pile of old tiles in the desert out back of our wall, and I felt that I should do something with them instead of just letting them go to waste! Rescued tiles I call them. At least they are no longer trash in the desert.
I just made this for someone and shipped it out. They made it all in one piece. I was so happy. He called it Moon Chickens.
Again, I will say if anyone would like any of the ones I have made, or have a few made for yourself just send me a message on here!![]()
How do you get the paint to stay on them? My daughters tried painting some Mother's Day tiles and the paint scratches off so easily.
I LOVE the Moon Chickens!
I know right? I have NO artistic talent AT ALL! But my little girls LOVE crafting!Good question! Waiting patiently for reply![]()
Yineup is absolutely right! There is a plethora of products you can use. Even if you have no idea what you want! I'm sure if you go into any of your local craft stores and explain you want to paint on ceramic they will be able to help you! I use acrylic simply because it is the medium I work in other than charcoals and graphite, and I have it! A word of caution if you are using re-purposed, or recycled materials as I am. I would be wary of heating reclaimed tiles unless you know exactly what they were used for, what type of adhesives/ chemicals they were exposed to during their life time before they were trashed. Even after a nice power washing mine still have little bits and whatnots left over on the back. It is such a fun hobby though. I hope you find what works for you! ^.^
