Chicken Crafts! (Show Off Your Craftiness)

It is not actually meant to be a wall scroll. I get mine at IKEA in the window treatment section. I love going to IKEA and getting really cheap products and using them for something else completely. That was only like half the window treatment, it goes a long way for around 10 dollars I think?

Here it is. I see that you cannot order them online :( If you have an IKEA anywhere near you and you love to craft it is an awesome place to find materials cheaper than most places. (And when you are on a budget it really helps!) You just have to look at something and be like, "Now, what can I do with that?"

These are painted on wooden planks used for shelving really inexpensive, like 2 dollars.

And this was a picture frame (a lot less than at any craft store) that used to have some sea setting pictures in it that I tore out and replaced with my own, desert themed ones!
Now, I guess this is only helpful if you have an IKEA anywhere near you! If not I'm sorry I couldn't be of any help at all. Though, you might find something useful on their website who knows!

We do have an Ikea within about a hour's drive.. so looks like I will be making a road trip when my husband gets back from Afghanistan!

(my poor old truck just won't make the trip.. plus i would need my husband to be there to keep me within budget! )

Yeah!!! Our closest one is about 2 hours away, so we don't go so terribly often. Make sure you check out the sale section too (if you can find it, in our IKEA it was hidden in a corner!) It is the exact opposite with me.I have to hold back my husband from going crazy! ^^

Oh he can get started too,.. his biggest problem is saying "get whatever you want hun...."

though for my birthday he has bought me 88 chicken hatching eggs.. 32 quail eggs.. and one more mystery box of eggs on the way.. plus he told me I can get the dairy goats I have been looking at (hopefully they haven't been sold yet)!

needless to say he's a keeper

I am not sure I really like the background material. It clashes with the chicken too much. It is a trial and error thing. I wasn't too crazy about the original rooster block pattern so I modified it. I do like the look of the project. I just need to come up with a better looking runner. I think I might change the legs too. They seem a little odd to me. I think the next one will be with a paper pieced kitty block instead of chickens.
