Our girls are almost 19 weeks old, and fortunately we have not had a loss to predators. I have had a live trap set for a few weeks to see if there is anything lurking about. Last night we made contact with one of the lurkers. He might look cute and cuddly, but he got nasty when the camera got close.

Not real happy with me at this point.

Regrettably, I needed to make sure this weasel was not a future threat to the flock. You can see how slim they are and why they can so easily fit through even the smallest of openings.

Good job, too bad you're probably going to get flack for killing it before it killed. I did when I shot an oppossum on my porch eating cat food.

In my book, if it's close to my house, it's too close to my chickens and has to go. I have meaties in a pvc tractor and are easily targeted.

If anyone complains, offer to give/hand/mail the next one to them alive.

Good job having the trap out and ready.

i used to have sympathy for those cute little predators out there- till i saw the result of a coon attack... now i understand ranchers shooting marauding dogs.... you are to me commended for protecting your flock~!
