Chicken died in nesting box

Hi all.

Just looking for guesses please as to my chickens cause of death please.
Opened up the nesting box this morning and found 'Chickaletta' sadly dead with what looks to be a prolapse.
She's laid the two previous days perfectly but it seems she was bunged up with faeces.

Thanks for any advice.

I'm sorry about your hen.

It does look like she had an prolapse that was hidden under her feathers.
If you are inclined, you may want to further investigate by opening the body cavity and looking at the internals to see if there was a formed egg, signs of reproductive disorders, cancer, etc.
